EMOTIONS AND UPSC CSE
The topic is quite popular amongst aspirants. several teachers, mentors , students and toppers already talked about it , but i think they have not touched its core part. they try to think it so deeply and so vivid but it lacks one basic thing i.e personalisation. they talked in general not so specific, regarding students.
they tell students to do yoga, mindfulness breathing , which may be good for many people but its not the main thing that bothers them. using a painkiller would reduce pain but to deal with pain you have to deal with its core issue.
even this article will be read by me many times, to deal with my emotions during this time.
so the main concerning which is the emotional disturbances that many feel at any time , any where in the day or night, emotions are not your servants, they are your guide, if you want to deal with them, cooperation is the best way rather than making them your servants.
Anxiety is the main concern of many students in this field. the core issue here is giving too much to exam. taking time schedule as too much serious , taking everything too much serious ....i can talk about many things regarding the causes , but my job is not to discuss causes as it varies from person to person specifically.
I am talking about solutions which i found good
1. open up : try to say everything you want top say, tell everything to anyone or may be write about how you feel. be completely and bluntly honest. dont pile up inside everything that you feel, let it out.
atleast talk to someone , make some friends, talk with strangers. you ultimate weapon in this battle is you , keep yourself as sorted as possible.
2. give time : give time to your emotions, whenever you feel something, sit with it , let it tell you what it wants to tell you , if you think its is eating your time that you are making a big blunder here my friend because if you ignore or supress it that time , either it will come with greater force next time or you will eventually lose the living part of life.
being emotional sensitive is being alive, its very okay, because if you are not so, then you are a good machine or dead inside which i do not recommend.
one thing you can do, which i prefer or try to do is that sit with that emotions for small time, accept it without judgement and allocate some time for it. In this time, reflect on your emotions , try to understand them, know when to express them and when not. Emotional regulation is very important because ignoring your emotions is not the correct way.
now, someone would say that it will make your study less effective as you study for less time , but what i want that you should focus on your targets and have patience, upsc cse is not a game of one day, its a long race, you will not lose the cse if you lose some hours , rather in that losing your hours, you gaining your days overall. its a good trade off.
achieving your targets is necessary but if you keep your targets 80 percent( not scientific), mean to say you complete most of targets daily, not achieving 100 percent one day, is good.
